The Alentejo is the rural heartland of Portugal, dotted with walled towns and ancient castles.  There are rolling plains of olive groves and cork plantations, and a pace of life that has barely altered in centuries.  Evora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site,  is the historic heart of the Alentejo region.   It is a delightful city, which combines Portuguese charm with a varied selection of fascinating historical sights.  Evora was one of the most influential cities of medieval Portugal and there are medieval palaces, gothic buildings, delightful plazas and cobbled streets, all contained within Evora’s ancient walls.

Porto won Europe's Leading City Destination 2022 award by World Travel, and the historic centre of Porto is another UNESCO World Heritage Site.  It is an instantly likeable city, which is centered around the mighty Douro River, with charming districts and a laid-back atmosphere.  The city boasts an extensive history, unique tourist attractions, delicious cuisines, buzzing nightlife and a flourishing artisan scene.

Steeped in history, Lisbon is an ancestral city, increasingly cosmopolitan. Built on seven hills on the right bank of the Tagus, it enchants in such a way that anyone who knows it will never forget it.  The Portuguese capital is constantly recognized as one of the greatest cities in the world, a claim confirmed by “Lonely Planet Guides,” who named Lisbon one of the world’s top 10 cities.
